  I’m so glad that you’d like to join a Sing and Sign class.  

  Priority Booking for the New (January) Term of Classes will open on Friday 22nd November at 6pm. General Booking will open on Saturday 23rd November at 6pm.

  Which Class do I Choose?

  BABES:  Using our magic ingredients of music and singing, you’ll learn how to stimulate your young baby’s brain development using eye contact, repetition, anticipation, gesture and of course peek-a-boo with Jessie Cat, as well as learning some basic signing. In Babes classes we focus on building a really strong foundation for great communication, together we’ll explore the importance of shared looking, commenting and facial expression. This class is ideal for little ones newborn to 6 months.

  
  

  STAGE 1: These classes are ideal for babies 6/7mths and beyond.  The classes are great fun and ideal if you have little or no signing experience.  The Stage 1 curriculum covers babies’ basic routines such as meal times, bath time, nappy change and bedtime.  It also offers additional signs to do with babies’ interests such as animals, vehicles, toys etc.  There are over 100 signs covered during Stage 1.  It is recommended to complete 2 terms of Stage 1; you will find that as your baby develops you will pick up more relevant signs in the second term.  There are many families who have come back even for a 3rd term of Stage 1.

  
  

  STAGE 2: These classes are great for toddlers aged 14 months +.  By now your child will have completed one or two terms of Sing and Sign (some exceptions will apply) and may be starting to toddle or even run about, possibly even attempting their own conversation with a few speech sounds and words.  You both know the routine of the classes and many signs.  Well, now the fun really begins.  Not only do we have new concepts and signs relevant to their increasing interests and awareness but also they have the opportunity to move around with the music and become an active participant in class.  Through fun songs, the curriculum covers colours, the weather, simple counting and we even have a great song for helping with potty training!  Also you’ll be able to learn the phonetic alphabet, which is a big advantage when your child is ready for school.  Your baby is learning at a fast pace so we recommend attending 2 terms of Stage Two.  Even as speech starts to come, signing is so beneficial as it helps you understand those first garbled words!

  If your child is old enough to attend Stage 2 but you haven’t done any signing please email me at hannahsugden@singandsign.co.uk as it might be possible for you to go straight into Stage 2.

  Sing and Sign has an excellent Nursery Affiliation Programme which will train staff on their own premises at a time to suit all. We will teach staff a selection of signs, tailor made to the nursery's individual requirements and design an Individual Action Plan to inspire staff and make signing fun and easy to incorporate. Following training, the nursery will receive a Certificate of Sing and Sign Affiliation together with ongoing access to our signing resources and a complimentary package of products.
