About Me
Holly Cook
Hello! My name is Holly and I am the Sing and Sign teacher for the Taunton, Wellington and Bridgwater areas, although currently classes are running in Tsunton only
I first started Sing and Sign with my oldest daughter, when she was around six months old. I was looking for a friendly, local group, where both my little one and I could learn something new together. Several friends and colleagues had recommended Sing and Sign, having tried it with their own children, and I was soon able to see why.One term turned into several more, building from stage one to stage two. To begin with, we simply enjoyed the catchy songs, the much-loved Jessie cat and having the opportunity to meet other mummies and little ones in a relaxed setting. I even managed to pick up some of the signs to try at home. Despite the usual sleep deprivation (parents so often experience after having a baby!) and a constant pile of washing to get through, the signs were surprisingly easy to remember and use on a regular basis! I soon noticed my little girl observing more, which then led to her babbling and using a few signs herself - it’s amazing what they pick up! As we visited new places and explored different foods, it became useful for her to use some of the signs to communicate, helping to diffuse tantrums quickly and playing in a more meaningful way.As my daughter was coming to the end of her Sing and Sign learning journey, I was due with my second, so the decision to join and share the experience with my youngest daughter was an easy one. This time though, we were all signing at home and singing the songs from the CD in the car. Jessie cat became even more of a firm favourite in the family.I now have a little boy, who enjoyed the @ Home online sessions during the pandemic and started signing at around 5 months. Of course his first sign was going to be milk as he was a little milk monster as a baby!I also work as a primary school teacher, which I have enjoyed for many years; I have always loved working with children. The passion I have for Sing and Sign means I can just about juggle both roles (but, for now, classes are only running in Taunton), alongside a busy life with my three young children.I would love to see you at a Sing and Sign class sometime soon. If you’d like to find out more, please feel free to contact me with any questions or queries and I will do my best to answer them!Love,Holly & Jessie Catxx -

Class Information and Ts and Cs
Not sure which class is for you?
BABES is a curriculum for babies from 0 - 5 months and focuses on bonding with your baby and communicating through repitition, shared looking, use of sound and will also introduce first signs.
STAGE 1 CLASSES are for BEGINNERS. Babies usually start between the ages of 5 months to 14 months. Basic signs such as "milk", "Eat", "More" and "All Gone" are learnt along with signs applicable to babies such as bedtime, bathtime and nappy changing.
STAGE 2 CLASSES are for those who have usually completed 1, 2 of sometimes 3 terms of Stage 1 and are around 14 months old, or for toddlers who are just starting aged 14 months and above (up to around 2 1/2 years). Other information:
What are classes like?
Classes are very relaxed and good fun.
Class sizes are kept small (up to about 12 per class).
Classes run for about an hour. We Sing and Sign for approximately 40 minutes.
Babies aren’t expected to sit still during classes! They are free to move about enjoying the music and props whilst you learn the signs.
How much does it cost?
The cost is £70 for a course of 10 weeks and we strongly recommend, if it is your first term, that you also sign up for Gold or Premium membership alongside the course. There is now also the online membership option which is recommended for newbies. Those booking Stage 1 for the first time, payment is via bank transfer. Please note for twins - one baby goes free!
Classes do fill up quickly so do book early to avoid disappointment! To get the quickest response, via email, click on the enquiry button above. Also bear in mind, that you are able to start mid-term at a reduced rate. Classes are themed each week, but include lots of repetition so you will easily pick lots of the songs and signs up as you go.
How do I book?
- To book using the online system and for up to date availability in classes, please follow this link: book here
If classes are full, you will automatically go on the waiting list when you book. People do sometimes pull out of classes or swap to a different time at the last minute as unpredictable babies can change nap times etc! I may also be able to run extra classes if you are part of a group that would like to come together, or demand is high enough, so please do let me know what days/times you would prefer.
I hope to see you and your baby in a class soon!

Sing and Sign Terms and Conditions

Existing customers and/or those that have registered interest are offered priority booking to renew for the next term of classes. After this, remaining places are opened up to the general public.
Places are offered on a first come, first served basis. To secure a place in a class, please place your provisional booking online and pay the class fee within 7 days. Please pay via cash or bank transfer using the bank details included on your booking confirmation email. I cannot guarantee your place until payment has been received.
Once the place is secured I will e-mail you to confirm your place and payment.
Refunds policy
Refunds are available if you withdraw from class in the following cases:
If you withdraw from classes before the term has started, I will refund you in full.
During the first week of term, a refund can be offered for the remainder of term, less the first class.
After the first week, it will not be possible to offer a refund for the remainder of term.
Refunds for online classes
Refunds for online @Home classes will be offered if necessary prior to the start of term and before you receive your online password. Once the term has started and you have your password, unfortunately there will not be the possibility for a refund.
Attending classes
If you are unable to attend your booked class on a regular basis, please talk to me about it. It MAY be possible for you to transfer to a different class. However, please consult me before doing so. Sing and Sign has strict limits on the numbers allowed in classes.
Can I bring a friend and their baby to class as a trial?
Please do not bring friends along to class unannounced. It MAY be possible to accommodate a friend and their baby, if there are still spare places in the class, but I do not guarantee this.
Illness
If your child has had an infectious disease or contagious infection (including covid symptoms), please do not bring them to class until they are clear of the infection. As with school, pre school or a childminder we are not able to accommodate a child who has had a sickness/diarrhoea bug for 48 hours after their last incidence of sickness or diarrhoea.
Children's behaviour in class
I hope your baby will enjoy class and be thoroughly engaged with the teacher and watching the other children. Problems with behaviour are very rare, but of course can happen occasionally. If a baby hits, bites or throws toys the parent should remove their child from the class circle to avoid further disruption and in exceptional circumstances a refund may be offered for the remainder of term at the teacher's discretion.
Food
It is fine to breast feed or bottle feed your little one if they need comfort/are hungry during the lesson. Older toddlers, may also wish to have a drink. However, please refrain from bringing out food during classes, as other children can be distracted by this and it can disrupt the flow of the lesson.
Complaints procedure
I really hope that you will be delighted with your experience of Sing and Sign classes. I am absolutely committed to you finding that your class meets or exceeds your expectations and that you enjoy your classes enough to recommend Sing and Sign to all of your friends!
However, sometimes things might go wrong and I would like to hear about it. Please do get in touch if you have a complaint or concern (or compliment!). I will always do my best to resolve any problems as quickly as possible and to everyone's satisfaction. If there is any aspect of the course/classes that you are unsure about, please don't be too shy to ask!
For Health and Safety purposes we are required to inform you of the following:
By enrolling in Sing and Sign you are agreeing to assume responsibility for overseeing the safety of your child at class.
Although we try our best to provide a safe environment, we do not assume liability for the health and safety of you or your family.
Please be aware that we do not recommend allowing your child to put toys or instruments into his/her mouth.
