I get to meet so many wonderful families who are interested and want to start their Sing and Sign journeys! I absolutely love seeing little ones learn and by singing and signing with them you open up their world and support and assist their early communication and language development. Having been in Early Years and Primary Education for all my career I have a real passion for engaging with little ones and I know the real benefits and value of using spoken language, visual language, gestures/signs and music to enhance natural development. I have also been a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf for the past 18 years and so have a wealth of knowledge and experience with BSL - even though this is BABY SIGN. Having also worked closely with numerous Speech and Language Therapists, I decided I wanted to encourage and support early communication for ALL and so I became self-employed and my own boss! It is amazing to see little ones begin signing what they actually want and need. The joy parents feel when their little one can "tell them" that they want "More" or want their "milk" is wonderful to see! I really do enjoy meeting and getting to know so many little ones and their families and we have so much FUN!

Monday afternoons and Thursday afternoons I am teaching in 2 Nurseries through til Winter '26 at the moment.
Stage 1 (5+months - 13months) Your little one is beginning to learn about the world around them - encourage communication and assist their learning development. You learn the signs and songs to enhance what you are talking to them about. Some babies, if you use this consistently can tell you by 6 1/2 months that they want "More milk" and by 8 months they want something to "Eat".
Stage 2 (13months - 24/30months) Don't worry if you haven't done Stage 1 - we can recap on the basics - and build on the language/vocabulary that is more familiar to them as toddlers. We look at colours, counting, opposites, feelings and even phonics to name just a few themes!

Babies can't talk, but that doesn't mean that they have nothing to say!Join our Baby Signing class and give your baby "a voice" long before they learn to talk.
Our classes are full of fun and music to help you and your baby learn whilst making treasured memories together.

What to expect......
Huddersfield Sing and Sign offers Stage 1 AND Stage 2 classes 4 days a week.
EXCITING NEWS - I am able to offer the "Babes" programme (Birth-6months) from January 2025. This has been running Spring 2026 - and is also running Summer 2026 - however, this 5 week course only runs if there is enough demand and interest. Venues and Days/Times to be confirmed.

Sing and Sign Stage 1 is ideal for babies from 5 months old up to around 14 months old and their parent/carer. Themes include basic signs, nappies & bath time. You will learn over 100 signs related to your routines and also the sorts of things your baby may be interested in, such as animals and vehicles.
It is quite a big step from Stage 1 to Stage 2, so many families come to Stage 1 for two terms before attending Stage 2. However, this is also dependent on how mobile your little one is and your baby's age.
Sing and Sign Stage 2 is great for when your little one is 13/14+ months. Most babies will now be moving about and probably starting to talk (although every baby is different, so there is no hard and fast rule!) and this stage is more active and interactive. We cover different themes including weather, opposites, colours and the phonetic alphabet, together with simple counting songs, turn taking, sharing and of course, lots of FUN!
Our classes have a friendly atmosphere where parents can relax and babies are free to roam, explore and play as well as enjoying a good old sing along (with a difference!!!).
Sing and Sign makes baby signing fun and easy!
During our class, signing is introduced through music teamed with puppets, props and instruments so babies have lots of fun whilst learning. Our musical catalogue comprises of a mixture of classic nursery rhymes that you will be able to join in with right away and some new songs specially written for the course. You and your baby will enjoy learning the new songs and signs together.
The songs we sing involve a large range of signs that you will pick up as the weeks go on. Don’t worry, you will not be expected to know them all after week one (although you will be surprised at how quickly you begin to remember the different signs). Each week we will concentrate on a handful of specific signs relating to a particular activity/theme/subject that your baby can relate to (e.g. bathtime, bedtime, the park, animals!) At the end of class parents will be encouraged to watch the weekly lessons on-line to remind them of what they have learnt and help them practice their signs at home.Classes last approximately 45 minutes. (Babes lasts approx.30-45mins.)
Cost
Sing and Sign Stage 1 and Stage 2 courses are 10 weeks long each and cost £80.00
In addition to the 10week in-person classes, you will also get 365 days of GOLD (S1)/Premium (S2) membership to The Jessie Cat Club - an amazing online resource containing all things Sing and Sign. Gold& Premium Membership includes access to the @Home classes - ten weeks of pre-recorded video classes that correspond to the content of the in-person classes so if you can't make it to a class for any reason you won't miss out on the content for that week! The Jessie Cat Club is a great way to share your Sing and Sign journey with others closely involved in your baby's life so that the whole family can get involved in the magic! Premium Membership also has extra benefits aswell - more video clips and signs.
If you are unable to make our face to face classes we also offer the 10 week @HOME Stage 1 and 2 courses costing £50 per family (no extra charge for multiple birth families), and includes an annual subscription to the Jessie Cat Club - a years access to our fantastic supporting resources.

BABES - this is just a 30minute class each week, for 5 weeks blocks at a time - costing just £40. Here we talk about connecting with your baby, eye contact, facial expression, rhythm& music and so much more...
Full payment is required via BACS when making your booking.Parents with twins will only pay one fee for one!

HOT OFF THE PRESS!!
APRIL 2026 - ANOTHER Nursery has now had it's training and I am pleased to say Nurtured Childcare@Skelmanthorpe is now Affiliated with Sing and Sign Huddersfield! I shall begin in-house weekly sessions there on Monday afternoons after Easter 2026.
JULY 2025 - I trained staff at Charley's Angels Day Care Nursery in Milnsbridge and they are now Affiliated with Sing and Sign. They love it so much and want the Sing and Sign approach embedded in their Nursery that I shall be delivering Sing and Sign sessions EVERY WEEK from September 2025 - July 2026 and beyond!
