About me
Hi! My name is Yolanda and I've been teaching Sing and Sign classes in St Andrews and Anstruther since April 2024...
Sing and Sign was by far the most rewarding class we attended when my son was a baby (and we went to MANY - mostly for sanity reasons!!). Sing and Sign had the additional bonus of awarding us the tools to communicate with each-other non-verbally from when he was just 6 months old.
I recently moved to the beautiful East Neuk area with my toddler and was disappointed to find there were no local baby-signing classes. The bond this early communication creates between care-giver and baby is so precious and unlocks insights into a baby's mind that might not otherwise be apparent until they become verbal. My son was a late talker and I'm sure being able to communicate via signs avoided many potential frustration tantrums!
I've since become quite passionate about transferring this skill to other care-givers and their babies wanting to learn it in the local area; so here I am!!

A lovely gentle music and sensory class with a strong emphasis on communication. The course introduces the basics of the Sing and Sign approach for those keen to sign with their babies. We also show you lovely adaptations of familiar songs to enjoy with your baby while face to face, during nappy change, bathtime, bedtime and gentle play.
‘Stage 1’
for babies from 6 months to around 14 months – Covering lots of different themes relating to your babies world, we use songs, rhymes, instruments, toys and props in a fun, relaxed class. Babies love the fun and the music while adults effortlessly learn all the signs they need for day-to-day life with their baby.*'Stage 2' - NEW- Starting Jan 2025!!

Nurseries
Does your child attend a nursery?
Sing and Sign has an excellent Nursery Affiliation Programme which will train staff on their own premises at a time to suit all. We will teach staff a selection of signs, tailor made to the nursery's individual requirements and design an Individual Action Plan to inspire staff and make signing fun and easy to incorporate. Following training, the nursery will receive a Certificate of Sing and Sign Affiliation together with ongoing access to our signing resources and a complimentary package of products.
If your baby attends nursery or you know of a childcare facility that would be interested in receiving further information, please contact me for more details.
Are you a childcare provider?
Many parents are now signing with their babies and looking for childcare which can offer the improved level of communication their baby is enjoying at home. For the last nine years Sing and Sign teachers have been offering workshops for staff and follow up consultancy to nurseries interested in introducing baby signing in their baby and toddler rooms. Our comprehensive Nursery Affiliation Programme helps staff make the most of communicating with the little ones in their care.
Sing and Sign benefits the adults too! Carers themselves also benefit from the greater understanding and lessening of frustration that baby signing can offer. Your nursery staff will find it easy to adopt some simple signs with the right encouragement and motivation. As babies find added comfort in the reinforcing of routines and familiar words it can make a rewarding difference!
The Sing and Sign approach is renowned among parents and professionals and highly regarded. Our material has been used for I CAN’s Chatterbox Challenge for many years, we have run classes in Mothercare and for numerous Sure Start services and children's centres across the UK. Incorporating the Sing and Sign approach will also be of great benefit to any members of your staff currently using signs with children in your care who have special needs and encourage inclusivity.
