Our team...
Here's a little more about the Sing and Sign Edinburgh team:
About Catherine...
Edinburgh franchise owner, administrator and class teacher.
When we joined our first Stage 1 Sing and Sign class in 2011, I had no idea how important baby signing would become for us. My son who was 8 months old at the time, loved the music and the social feel to the classes and I learned loads of new songs and signs. Classes were fun but it wasn't until my son was around 13 months old and began signing back to me that I realised the true value of what we had been learning. It was so wonderful being able to have little conversations with him and of course there were huge practical benefits too as we were all able to make ourselves better understood.
I love teaching baby signing and being able to share my passion for Sing and Sign with new families in Edinburgh. I am very lucky to be a small part of such an exciting time in these families' lives. I really hope you feel inspired to come along, find out more about Sing and Sign and try baby signing in your family.
Catherine Rennie.About Hazel...
Class teacher at Marchmont (Mondays) and Liberton
Hazel is a passionate advocate for baby signing with a huge depth of knowledge and years of experience! Alongside that, her warm, friendly teaching means her classes are truly welcoming and nurturing.
After 15 years working backstage in theatre and two children, Hazel joined SIng and Sign Edinburgh as a teacher in 2018. She first attended Sing and Sign classes in London with her elder son Owen and then Catherine’s classes in Edinburgh with her younger son Liam. Hazel is really delighted to have the opportunity to share the joy that she and her family have found in Sing and Sign with other Edinburgh Mums, Dads, Grandparents and childminders. In addition to her experience as a Sing & Sign parent and teacher, Hazel has foundation level training in Signalong which is the keyword signing system used by Edinburgh schools. She also has hands on experience of the Hanen ‘It takes two to talk’ programme.
About Rebecca...
Class teacher at the Drill Hall - Leith Walk (Mondays)
Rebecca joined as a teacher in September 2021 but she has been part of the Sing and Sign Edinburgh family for a number of years having attended classes with her own children. Rebecca is currently writing a bit of blurb for me to pop up here so you can learn a little more about her from her own words. In the meantime I can tell you that not only is she an experienced signer and musician, she also brings a warm, welcoming and fun atmosphere to her classes - babies and toddlers love her! Catherine. x
