What will you learn at Sing and Sign?
Sing and Sign is a fantastic activity to do with your baby. You learn over 100 signs to help you connect and communicate with your baby. You will be overjoyed when your baby tells you something through signing - whether it is naming a favourite animal or asking for 'milk' and a bite to 'eat'! You also get a chance to meet other parents from your area with babies of a similar age. Some lifelong friends have been made at our classes!!
Your baby will love listening to the singing, playing the instruments and interacting with the other children - and the teacher!
My families tell me over and over again how much they enjoy our classes and how beneficial signing has been for them.
Everyone has fun at Sing and Sign: they are special music classes with a BIG difference!
What happens if you miss an in-person class?
If you or your baby is ill, please stay home to keep other families and your teacher safe and well. You can watch Class@Home and other online resources too. You'll be invited to all our zoom sessions so you can join any or all of those (dates tbc).
It may be possible to make up a class in another venue on a different day if there is space but this is not guaranteed. Email for more help on that.
Please read all T&Cs for information about what happens with any absences and disruption to class for any reason as well as refunds including if miss or you return to work.
Read what one happy family wrote:
'If there is one thing you do with your child, make sure it is Sing and Sign. The session is enormously enjoyable, whilst sneakily teaching your small person lots of skills (tidying up, sharing, communicating, & socialising as well as signing), all hidden within familiar tunes and lots of laughter. I am coming to the end of my third term with my two year old and I will miss it greatly! This has been the friendliest and most lovingly-held space within which L. has flourished greatly. We both leave taking many good friends with us. What a treat it has been to relax and let the teacher take the reigns once a week!'
The Sing and Sign - Bristol Team
To give you the best experience, our teachers work very hard and really know baby signing! They all love to sing, are committed to signing and adore babies!! Bristol's wonderful teachers are Helen C, Sky and me, Katherine. I do all the emailing, social media and admin!

A preview of our fabulous Sing and Sign Class@Home is below. These wonderful resources are pre-recorded lessons, available on demand with unlimited viewing for seven days (lesson one available in week one, lesson two in week two etc). There is no way to watch missed online lessons but you can make Sing and Sign Class@Home part of your daily routine!
Filmed by Sing and Sign teachers across the country, the magic of Sing and Sign comes home in 10 weekly, themed online sessions. The online class feels very much like your in person class following the usual format with familiar songs, felt board, instruments and of course Jessie Cat playing peek-a-boo!
As with face-to-face classes, it is not essential for your baby to watch but they will enjoy hearing the music and your signing will grow stronger. (You can see a preview of Class@Home below.)
If you are not a fan of screens for little ones, you can watch the class without your baby first (maybe with a glass of something cold or a cup of something hot), then send the audio through a speaker and sing along with your baby!
These online classes are also great for those returning to work, families who can't find a suitable day, or even those Stage Two graduates who don't want to give up just yet!
About me...
I attended 4 terms of Sing and Sign with my son and loved every minute. Signing with J. (he's not a baby anymore!!) brought much joy to my life. Signing definitely enhanced his communication and language skills then and we are still seeing the benefits as he progresses through school.
I am told the same again and again by all the lovely families who come through our award-winning baby signing classes. I became a teacher at first and after 6 years, I bought a franchise to run classes myself. All our teachers have signed with their children and we each bring a love of singing and signing to our classes.
You'll see me in the preview above and in our online lessons. I hope to meet you in person at Sing and Sign.
Jessie Cat love for everyone...

Courses run for 10 sessions over a period of 11, 12 or 13 weeks with a half-term break.
Sing and Sign classes are very relaxed and great fun. You learn signs to help you better communicate with your baby while we entertain with lots of songs, music, props and games. Grown-ups and siblings can learn simple signs and gestures to use at home with the babies. As the babies grow and see the signs and gestures repeated and used constantly with speech, they will be able to use them to communicate with you. We cover over 100 signs during your first 10-week course all of which are fun to learn and easy to remember because we teach it all through music!
We keep the class sizes small (around 11/12 families per class) so you and your baby can enjoy the social aspect of the classes too.
Classes last for about 35-45 minutes.
Sing and Sign is definitely a learning class and so we hope you will come ready to join in!
Sing and Sign @Home
Our online lessons form the core of our provision. These are lovely pre-produced lessons available to stream via the internet to your home. We encourage you to enjoy the online lessons at any time - indeed, many times! - throughout the week. Older siblings and other adults can join in too as you make Sing and Sign @Home part of your daily routine.
Lessons are available to watch from Monday morning until Sunday night. There is no way to see previous lessons once missed but with unlimited viewing for seven days, there is great opportunity to watch repeated times!
You can always watch the class beforehand without your little one (with a glass of something cold or a mug of something hot) to learn the songs and signs for that week. You can also run the audio through a speaker to enjoy the songs in the background if limiting screen time for little ones.
To make the lessons even more interactive, you could find some pictures, instruments and props and create a full class experience for your baby in your home!!
Fees
The cost of a ten-week term is £84 (price correct as of Spring 2024). Payment is via debit/credit card through Stripe or posted cheque. Payments must be received before class unless there has been a prior written agreement.
You only pay one fee if you have twins.
Places are taken very quickly for the Stage One classes and I operate strictly on a first come first served basis, so please book early if you are keen to attend.
You need to book and pay for the course in advance. Please read the Terms and Conditions for answers to frequently asked questions and information about refunds in case you need to withdraw from the class.
**If your preferred course is full please joing the waiting list and /or get in touch with me at katherineamor@singandsign.co.uk. In some cases, additional classes may be added at your preferred venue so please join the waiting list and I will get in touch if a new class opens up.**
Not sure which class to choose?
BABES: Using our magic ingredients of music and singing, you’ll learn how to stimulate your young baby’s brain development using eye contact, repetition, anticipation, gesture and of course peek-a-boo with Jessie Cat, as well as learn some basic signing.
Sorry, no older siblings are allowed in Babes.
STAGE ONE: These classes are ideal for babies 6/7mths +. Classes are great fun and ideal if you have little or no signing experience. The Stage One curriculum covers babies’ basic routines such as meal times, bath time, nappy change and bedtime. It also offers additional signs to do with babies’ interests such as animals, vehicles, toys etc. There are over 100 signs covered during Stage One. It is recommended to complete 2 terms of Stage One; you will find that as your baby develops you will pick up more relevant signs in the second term. There are many families who have come back even for a 3rd term of Stage One.
If your baby is too young to join us, please email me at katherineamor@singandsign.co.uk to join the interest list for the following term. It is best to contact me to go on the interest list if you are very keen as places get booked up quickly in our Stage One classes.
STAGE TWO: These classes are great for toddlers aged 14 months +. By now your child will have completed two terms of Sing and Sign (some exceptions will apply) and may be starting to toddle or even run about, possibly even attempting their own conversation with a few speech sounds and words. You both know the routine of the classes and many signs. Well, now the fun really begins. Not only do we have new concepts and signs relevant to their increasing interests and awareness but also they have the opportunity to move around with the music and become an active participant in class. Through fun songs, the curriculum covers colours, the weather, simple counting and we even have a great song for helping with potty training! Also you’ll be able to learn the phonetic alphabet, which is a big advantage when your child is ready for school. Your baby is learning at a fast pace so we recommend attending 2 terms of Stage Two. Even as speech starts to come, signing is so beneficial as it helps you understand those first garbled words!
If your child is old enough to attend Stage Two but you haven’t done any signing please email me at katherineamor@singandsign.co.uk as it might be possible for you to go straight into Stage Two.
