About me
Having seen my friend’s baby communicate her needs with simple signs for food and water, I was keen to sign up for Sing and Sign classes when my daughter, Lowry, was born.
We started Babes classes when Lowry was 7 weeks old. Having progressed through all the class stages, I can confidently say that Sing and Sign has been our favourite baby/toddler class and has taught us both so much. I hope that I can bring this joy and learning to other families in Birmingham through my classes.
Lowry first signed ‘dog’ and ‘bird’ when she was around 10 months old, quickly followed by ‘milk’, ‘more’ and many others. I have seen first-hand how signing has helped her (and us!) to avoid frustration by making herself understood.
Now that she’s two, signing can still help us to understand her speech. For example, she started asking for help and the 'help' sign meant that we could understand the word that she was saying.
Lowry is also a huge fan of Jessie Cat, she's her favourite toy by far and comes with us everywhere!

Babes - newborn to 5/6 months
A lovely gentle class with a strong emphasis on communication, which helps you to connect with your baby. In this class we introduce the Sing and Sign approach, start to learn some key signs and meet Jessie Cat. All with the magic ingredient - lots of singing and music!
Stage 1 - 5/6 months to 13/14 monthsOnce your little one is sitting up and becoming more aware, they will be ready for Stage 1 classes. In this class, we use music, singing, games and props to bring over 100 signs to life from food and drink to animals, people, daily routines and so much more. In this stage, both you and your baby will really start to see the benefits of cumulative learning, repetition and the fun of coming to class!
Stage 2 - 13/14 months to 2 yearsStage 2 is great when your little one is around 13/14months+, moving about and maybe starting to talk (although every baby is different of course!) as it is more active and interactive. Themes include weather, opposites, colours, the phonetic alphabet as well as simple counting songs, turn taking, sharing and of course, lots of fun!
Some people don't hear about Sing and Sign until their little ones are 14+ months and then wonder if it's too late to start. Not at all! Pop me a message and we can have a chat about which stage to start in!
