About Me
SING AND SIGN EXETER AND EAST DEVON
Meet our teachers at Sing and Sign Exeter and East Devon:
About Natalie.......
Class Teacher at The Baby Room, 23 Paris Street, Exeter (Tuesdays)
Dorothy Holman Centre, Topsham (Thursdays)
Clyst St Mary Village Hall, Exeter (Fridays)
Natalie initially started bringing her daughter to Sing and Sign classes nearly seven years ago. As a trained schoolteacher, she was struck by how focused and engaged she was, even at five months. Constantly learning new signs and vocabulary she loved her classes, so much so that even to this day she sings along to all the songs, Jessie Cat by her side!
Natalie was so impressed by Sing & Sign she decided to become a teacher and hasn’t looked back since; Natalie now runs Sing and Sign Exeter and East Devon.
Natalie would love for as many families as possible to experience the benefits Sing and Sign has to offer. It helps enhance the lasting bond between parents and their babies & provides a safe environment to learn, make new friends and enjoy magical moments during those precious formative years.
Our babies are capable of so much, let them show you!

About Bethany……..
Class Teacher at Trefoil Lodge, St Thomas (Mondays)
The Baby Room, Exeter (Fridays)
Bethany has been a passionate advocate of Sing and Sign ever since the first class she attended with her daughter eight years ago. Now that both her children have benefited from signing and fallen in love with Jessie Cat, she is excited to be able to teach others the songs and signs which have become such an important part of her family life.
Bethany has experienced signing in various settings throughout her life. Her younger brother used Makaton a lot early in his schooling. Through that and working as a teaching assistant with children with speech and language difficulties, Bethany has developed a keen interest in speech development. Bethany was a music and chapel choir scholar during her time at Exeter University, and also directs a community choir for mums with young children. She is very active in the music group at her church, where she sometimes signs the songs as well.Above all, Bethany is passionate about improving the mental wellbeing of parents and families. Sing and Sign does this through music, and by reducing frustration and promoting early two way communication between parent and child. What an amazing way to connect all the things she loves to do!

About Laura..........
Moorhayes Community Centre, Tiverton (Mondays)
Laura first brought her son to Sing and Sign classes when he was 5 months old and was delighted to find that he loved it as much as she did.
She couldn't believe how captivated he was by the music and playing peekaboo with Jessie Cat. But even more than this, it was a wonderful opportunity to take time together; strengthening their bond and developing the communication between them.
Within a few short months Laura noticed the impact on her little one's understanding and ability to communicate with her through just a few simple signs.
Before long, the whole family were signing and her partner was sold on the Sing and Sign approach; enjoying how signing helped to navigate everything from breakfast choices to toddler tantrums.
Laura trained in performing arts and subsequently went into teaching. She now teaches in a special school with a particular focus on communication and early language.
Becoming a Sing and Sign teacher has offered Laura the opportunity to combine her love of singing with her passion to advocate for positive, early communication experiences for every child and reap all the benefits her family has, from Sing and Sign.

About Esther.......
St Marks Church, Heavitree (Wednesdays)
Sing and Sign was Esther's very first baby group post-lockdown, and she could not recommend her choice more! Having seen her two children through the programme, Esther has loved seeing not only how useful both of them have found signing but also how much joy the ability to communicate has brought them. She also appreciates the way that her 4 year old can sign and interact with her baby brother which has definitely deepened their relationship. With a background in education and language development, Esther was quick to see the benefits of signing for speech development as well as pre-verbal communication, and loves how much fun the songs and classes are too.
Esther's favourite thing about Sing and Sign is the joy and love that shared communication between babies and their family and friends brings, and she is looking forward to sharing that with as many more families as possible!

What to expect from our Sing and Sing classes......
Our Sing and Sign classes are relaxed and good fun! We keep class sizes small (around 11 per class) so you and your baby can enjoy the social aspect of our sessions. We use instruments, songs, music and props to engage with your baby and help to demonstrate our core signs.
Which class is best for me and my baby?
Sing and Sign have developed 3 different classes specifically for your baby's developmental stages.
Sing and Sign Babes classes are for pre 6 month old babies and last about 30 minutes.
This gentle foundation class encourages good attention skills and explores themes such as eye contact, gesture, praise, anticipation and the use of facial expression.
We also encourage lots of cuddles, tickles and smiles, helping to naturally build a strong bond between you and your baby, The combination of all of these added components equates to a very happy baby and help build the framework for good communication; using our magic ingredient of music, signs and movement!
Stage 1 and Stage 2 classes run for approximately 40 minutes with time for Q&A's afterwards.
Stage 1 classes are great for babies aged from 6/7months to around 14 months. You and your baby will be introduced to over 80 different signs which we believe will help to encourage communication and reduce frustration and tears.
We are now offering GOLD Jessie Cat Club membership which includes @HOME, our award winning online programme. Ideal if you or baby are poorly or required to isolate and you can't make it to class. This programme runs in-line with our face to face classes and can be accessed as many times as you want every week from the comfort of your living room!
Stage 2 classes are designed for babies who have attended at least one term of Stage 1 and who will be around 13/14 months+ at the start of your chosen term.
We introduce further enhanced signs, along with advanced songs to challenge your developing baby as language and signs begin to flow. These classes are lots of fun as you will know if you have a toddler who is suddenly on the move!
At this stage, you'll begin to experience the power of our programme and how much your baby learns and advances as their confidence grows.
We are now offering PREMIUM Jessie Cat Club membership which includes @HOME, our award winning online programme. Ideal if you or baby are poorly or required to isolate and you can't make it to class.
