  Welcome to Sing and Sign Colchester and Tendring

  
  
  

  My name is Catherine, I am the franchise owner of Sing and Sign Colchester and Tendring, Essex. 

  I started my Sing and Sign journey with my eldest daughter Sophia when she was 8 months old. I'll be honest - I had no idea what Baby Signing was all about but I was absolutely amazed at how quickly she picked up so many signs and how engaged she was with classes. Sing and Sign has remained a very important and special part of our family. 

  When my second daughter Olivia was born I signed with her from birth, having seen how powerful it was first hand having taught classes from newborn age. Olivia amazed us all signing at just 10 weeks and continued to develop her signs and speech rapidly! 

  I am now enjoying signing with my son, who at just 15 months old has his clear favourite signs and is showing increased engagement and understanding by the day. 

  He first signed at just 5 weeks old. 

  Sing and Sign has really helped me to bond and communicate with my children, especially my daughters who are both very determined and headstrong, who without signing would’ve been extremely frustrated.

  I honestly can’t imagine how much harder life as a family would’ve been without the ability to communicate so effectively from such a young age. 

  When the opportunity came up to buy this franchise I jumped at it, ditching an established career in HR without a second thought! It’s the best and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done and I’m super confident that my classes will change your lives as they have done for me and my family. I try to share my personal videos on my Facebook page when I can so I can share our journey with you all. 

  Me and my teacher Brooke run classes throughout each week across several Tendring and Colchester based venues. 

  Brooke joins me with so much enthusiasm after attending from newborn classes with her own daughter Arya. We are both committed Signing mums as well as passionate teachers.

  What is baby signing?

  
  

  Babies naturally start to use a combination of gestures and sounds to help their parents understand them. For example pointing, shaking head, clapping hands and waving ‘bye-bye’ are all natural first signs.

  Introducing extra gestures to your baby such as milk, more, nappy change and tired can help your baby to communicate before speech, reduce frustration and is wonderfully rewarding and fantastic fun for both parent and baby.

  
  

  Sing and Sign classes teach baby signing through music, songs, nursery rhymes and lots of fun interaction with musical instruments, props and our mascot Jessie Cat. We use signs to help reduce frustration and encourage early communication between you and your baby.

  
  At class we sing and sign about what goes on in a baby’s world. Each week we cover a different topic such as eating, bath time and nappy changes, going out to play, hiding games, bedtime and lots more. There is a high standard of educational content but classes are delivered in a relaxing, enjoyable and unpressured way for you and your baby to learn.
